Family Fun Night

Instead of wearing Halloween costumes to school, Avery's school has a Family Fun Night where they show off their costumes and do some arts and crafts projects and play some games. They played the donut on a string game and made bats, ghosts and pumpkins. They had pizza and all sorts of treats. It was so much fun!

We also had another fun night out to go and see "Max & Ruby" live on stage. The girls both loved it!

Now That's a Pile of Leaves

Now that we are really into Fall, there are a lot more fallen leaves around. So, with the help of Daddy's leaf blower, we were able to make a real leaf pile. Here are some pictures of the girls having some fun in them.

In case you can't tell, this is Sierra

A Busy Weekend

Last weekend was a busy one at the Saylor household! First, we took advantage of the Columbus Day Deals and ordered Sierra a "Big Girl" bed. She couldn't quite understand why we weren't bringing her new queen size bed home with us that night, but I am sure she will be excited whenever it is delivered. Then we hit the party store for Halloween costumes. After the agonizing decisions were made, Avery settled on a scary cheerleader and Sierra chose a Monarch Butterfly. Here are a few preview pictures.

Sunday morning we went to Bemis Nursery here in Spencer. Every year they have a scarecrow building event and all of the money goes to a local charity of your choice. Luckily, Avery's school was one of the charities. I have to say, it is quite a task building a scarecrow, but I think ours came out pretty good!
We ended the weekend with some fun pumpkin picking. Not only did we pick some great pumpkins, but there was also a big pumpkin bounce house and a huge slide!

On Monday with met with our friend Kellie to get our family pictures taken. This is just a cute picture of the girls throwing leaves that Cory took.

Our Trip to the Ecotarium

Avery did not have school on Friday, so we thought it would be a good day to visit The Ecotarium. It is a small science museum for kids. They have all sorts of hands-on stuff to do inside. We got to see how a tornado forms and experiment with pendulums. They also have this cool wall with motion sensors on it that makes music as you move around. There is all sorts of animals to look at including cute ferrets, turtles, snakes and so much more. They even had this weird looking turtle that Avery said was 3 animals in 1 because it was a turtle that was in the water but it could stretch its neck super long, like a giraffe, to get its head out of the water. And then, it had this tiny little snout for a nose, like a pig. It was kind of strange looking. Outside of the museum there was a whole bubble area that was lots of fun. And we went on a train ride and they even had a playground that we played at and had a picnic lunch. It was a great day!

Avery had lots of fun experimenting with every possible speed

Some Fall Fun

Last week, we really started to get into the spirit of fall. After putting up all of our Halloween decorations, we tried to go pumpkin picking. But, with all of the rain we have had, it was too muddy to go out into the pumpkin patch. So, for now, we had to settle for getting pumpkins that were already picked. Sierra picked out the biggest one they had, weighing in at 32 pounds. Avery, on the other hand, wanted the biggest one that she could carry herself. Then, another day after school, we decorated them and raked up a small pile of leaves for some fall fun!

Apple Picking at Brookfield Orchards

Last week we went to Brookfield Orchards to pick some yummy apples. Avery and Sierra both have been doing lots of apple related stuff at school so they have been asking about going. So one day after school we set out for the orchard. We filled up one bag until apples were practically falling out. Then we hit the playground. We had lots of fun and we have already made apple crisp and homemade applesauce. Yummy!!

Avery so badly wants to climb trees in our backyard but we don't have any good "climbing" trees, so she was so excited to find this tree. She must have climbed it ten times.

The Kid's Festival at Wachusett Mountain

We had a great day at The Kid's Festival at Wachusett Ski Resort. There were so many things to do. We played lots of fun games, went on a pony ride, did some rock climbing, played in numerous bouncy houses, took some hockey shots, and we loved the inflatable Boot Camp Course. We even rode the chair lift to the top of the mountain, which, surprisingly, Sierra loved while Avery was a little nervous. Here are some of our pictures. Don't you just love our awesome face paintings?
