Gramma & Grampa's Visit

Gramma and Grampa came to visit us last week. We had so much fun with them. They got to see Avery at her swimming lesson. And we took them to our new favorite restaurant where the girls got to make their own pizzas. They were delicious!! Gramma and Grampa also took the girls to the playground, which is always a good time, especially when they stop off for some fruit smoothies from McDonald's (Avery loves them!). Meanwhile, Cory and I took advantage of having free babysitters around all weekend and we got a lot of stuff done. Unfortunately, I didn't get a ton of pictures, but I will try to remember to share more if I get some from April.

Doesn't it look Delicious?

The last few days here have been really hot! Here's a couple of cute pictures of the girls trying to get cooled off.

A Week of Science and Nature

Last week, we had a fun day at The Ecotarium in Worcester. There were all sorts of fun exhibits for us to check out, including a special CyberChase section. And we went to a story time where they read a story about animals and then they brought out a live animal. And wouldn't you know it, it was a skunk! (His sprayer was removed) But thank goodness Daddy wasn't with us, he would've freaked and reached for his car keys. Did you know that Skunks like cherrios? Who would've thought! We also had lots of fun making all kinds of cool bubbles. And we played on the playgrounds and went on a train ride. It was a great day!

Avery was awesome at making a huge bubble all around herself

And Sierra loved the bouncy train

On Saturday, Cory made good on his promise to Avery about camping out in the backyard. She was so excited!!! We were at a birthday party in the afternoon and she told EVERYONE about it. So Cory, Avery and Sierra all put up the tent and Avery got it ready with her sleeping bag and a bunch of stuffed animals and her special flashlight. And after bathtime, Avery and Cory headed outside in thier cozy pajamas with a stack of books. Unfortunately, it was a cloudy night so they couldn't do any star gazing and there was no roasting of marshmallows like Avery had envisioned, but she loved every minute of it just the same!

From Camp to The City

My two little Bookworms

A cute picture of Sierra with a ponytail in her hair (Yahhhh!)

This past week Avery went to camp for the first time. For some reason, I thought she was supposed to go next week, so she missed it on Monday. But, luckily I figured it out on Tuesday so she went on Wednesday and Friday. She had so much fun! She did arts and crafts, played some games, played on the playground, went swimming and boating and did something called the Flying Squirrel. I'm still not exactly sure what that is but ever since then she's been asking about going sky diving! She can't wait to go again next year and neither can Sierra!

On Saturday we went into Boston to visit and have dinner with our friends Tamala and Ben. They have an awesome apartment right in the heart of the North End of Boston. It is right along the Freedom Trail which is a brick trail that goes throughout Boston along all of the historic sites so we saw tons of tourists walking around. Their apartment also has a deck on the rooftop with a great view of the city. It was a great place for a barbecue. Then we ventured out into the city to get some gelato. What a fun night!

Our Trip to Maine

Last weekend we had a great trip to Maine. We started out on Friday in Portsmouth, NH. It is such a cute little town with lots of restaurants and little shops and delicious ice cream. We stayed there for the night in a hotel (the girls were so excited about the hotel!) Then we headed up to Maine on Saturday to Aunt Jenna's Parents' cabin on the lake. We had such a great time! We all got to swim in the lake a little and we went out on their boat a couple times. Avery and Daddy went out in the kayak with Uncle Joey and Stacy. Avery did some fishing with her Spider-Man fishing pole. She didn't catch any fish but she did catch a turtle! But it managed to get away before Aunt Jenna could pull it out of the water. On Saturday night we had a traditional Maine Lobster Bake with lobsters, clams, corn on the cob, and hot dogs for the kids (although Avery and Sierra enjoyed a little bit of lobster, too) Yummy! Then, for dessert we roasted the biggest marshmallows that you have ever seen! Then, on Sunday we went back out on the boat for some tubing. The kids all had so much fun! Even Sierra went out for a couple rides and loved it. The bumpier the ride, the better. It was such a great weekend, we were all sad when we had to leave but we are looking forward to going back up next year!

Summer Updates

This past week we kept ourselves busy with some little activities such as going to the library, going to the playground, shopping, etc. So I am sorry I don't have any pictures to share but I wanted to share some updates on the girls. Avery is becoming more and more creative. She has really been into coloring and drawing a lot lately. I am so impressed with her drawing. I can actually tell what a lot of her pictures are! She drew an alien the other day that was awesome. When we went to the library the other day, there was a contest going on where kids had to make something out of some recyclable trash. Avery made this really cool rocketship. It turned out great! Except that now, at home, she wants to keep every piece of garbage so that she can make something out of it. But it is something to keep her busy for the rest of the summer. She has also been loving going to swimming lessons! She's been doing great! And she is super excited to go to camp for a week in August. And, of course, she cannot wait to start back to school next month! She has so many things to look forward to.

Sierra has discovered both her independence and her curiosity all at once. One of her new phrases is "Do By Self". It is a little frustrating because I want her to do things for herself but, it takes 10 times longer to do everything!!! (I used to think I was such a patient person). She is also showing her curiosity with a couple other new phrases. Anything I say to her is followed by "Why, Mommy, why?", "What is it?", or "Where is it?". It's pretty cute until about the fifth time that she ways "Why?". But what's really cute is her singing. She loves to sing "Scooby Dooby Doo, where are you." She knows all of the words. I think we are going to have to work on some different songs so people don't think I'm a horrible Mom letting my 2 year old watch Scooby Doo. Oh well, that's what happens when you have an older sister.
