A Fun Week in Massachusetts

On Thursday, Avery had some firemen come to her school to talk to the kids and show them the fire truck. I thought Avery would be so excited about it so I had been making a big deal about it all week. Well, that morning she was so upset and did not want to got school, which is very unusual. I finally figured out that it was because she was nervous about the firemen. Once we got to school, we let her teachers know that she was nervous and they said they would take good care of her. Of course, whenever I picked her up, her teachers said that she talked more that day than she had for the entire school year. She was so impressed with the fire truck and how big it was. She couldn't believe that it was actually bigger than Mommy's car and Daddy's Toyota. She had such a great day. She was very glad that she didn't stay home.

Then Friday morning we woke up with some snow on the ground. Avery was so excited. She wanted to go outside at 6:00 in the morning. Well it was 9:00 by the time we got out there so most of the snow was gone but Avery didn't care as long as she got to eat some of what was left. She loves to eat snow.

Saturday morning the girls had a fun time with Daddy playing outside. We had bought a big spider decoration that you fill with leaves. So they were all busy filling it up. Avery was a big help and Sierra so wants to be a big help but she would carry over one or two leaves at a time. She is too cute!

Both of the girls have seemed to change a lot recently. Avery seems to want to be more grown up. Whenever Cory and I are having a conversation she will repeat what we say as if she is part of the conversation and then whenever we laugh at something she is hysterical even if she has no idea what we are talking about.

And Sierra is starting to get to the independent stage. If I try to turn the pages of a book as I'm reading to her, she pushes my hand away. And she has been getting up on Avery's stool in the bathroom lately. So we brought in her own stool and now she brushes her teeth at least 5 times a day just so she can stand on the stool. But she still doesn't talk yet. She just babbles a lot. We actually had someone from the Early Intervention office come out last week. They will be back in 2 weeks to test her to see if anything is wrong. But her doctor is not too concerned he just thinks she is a late talker. We're hoping it is just part of the "second child syndrome" but we will find out for sure soon.
