Our Latest Adventures

Here are some pictures from some of the stuff that has been keeping us busy lately.  The first ones are from our weekend in Philadelphia for our cousin, Kailey's First Communion. It was a great weekend and we had so much fun with our cousins.
A cousin picture with Brady, Alex, Ryan, Kailey, Stacy, Sierra, Avery & of course, Donovan (the dog)!

Last week was Avery's first official softball game. She was soooo nervous!! But she did great! She played in the outfield the first few innings. There were a few balls hit out in her direction and she really hustled after them and got them into the infield. Then she played second base for a while. She wasn't really sure of what to do there, but she was really focused, so I think she will pick it up in no time! At bat, she struck out the first time, but she did a great job watching the ball and not swinging at every pitch (which is a big improvement!)  Her second at bat, she got a hit! Unfortunately, she forgot to run so she got thrown out. Overall she did awesome. And after the game we both agreed we couldn't believe that she was so nervous beforehand. She had so much fun!

Playing second base...ready for the ball!

Last Saturday was a busy day for us. Avery and I spent the day at Coco Key (an indoor water park) with her Girl Scout troop. She had so much fun swimming, going down the water slide, and floating down the lazy river with her friends!

Saturday was also Opening Day for Little League. Sierra got to be a part of the parade followed by her first T-ball game. She's on the Red team and has two of her friends from school on her team. She did great and had so much fun!

Finally, I wanted to share a funny story. Last Sunday we went to church. It was Family Sunday where the girls stay  for the whole mass with us as opposed to going to Sunday School. Sierra struggles a bit sitting through the mass and was constantly asking how much longer until we could go home. Finally, the mass ended and the pastor was walking out. As he passed us, Sierra turned to me and said, "Hey, where's Jesus going?" as if to say, why does he get to leave? Apparently, she needs a little more Sunday School, but I just thought it was so funny!

Welcome Spring!!

Well, it seems after a very long winter, spring is finally here! I'm sure some of you are laughing at us getting excited over some 50 degree days, but after a couple bouts of several feet of snow at a time this winter, we are sooo excited!! Here are some pictures of some of the fun things we've been doing.
Avery is playing Fast-pitch Softball! Here she is (that's her bending down for the ball) at one of her first practices

And here she is at bat. She's been doing great considering she's never played before!

It's official!! Here's Avery in her uniform. Her team name is "The Heat" We can't wait for her first game on Tuesday!

Sierra and I had our first picnic at the playground for the year. She made a new friend and had so much fun playing!

I went to a workshop at Bemis Nursery and got the rundown of what we can plant in our garden already. Last weekend, we got to work. So far we have radishes, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and a couple different types of lettuce planted.

Easter 2013

We had a wonderful Easter weekend! Gramma, Grampa, and Aunt Jacey were all here for the weekend. We had a lot of fun playing and spending time with them and doing all of our usual Easter activities. We made our beautiful Easter Bunny cake, dyed eggs, and had lots of Easter Egg hunts!

Avery & Sierra with their Bunny Cake

Gramma had made up a Treasure Hunt for the girls that took them all throughout the house until they found their jumbo Easter Eggs in the bathtub. It was so fun!!

They were really focused on dying their eggs...at least for five minutes.

On Saturday, we went to the Easter Egg Hunt at Bemis Nursery. Here are the girls posing with the Easter Bunny

There were animals from the 4-H Club at Bemis. Here they are with a cute bunny

Back at our house, Gramma did an Egg Hunt for the girls

Then it was off to another egg hunt!

Even Avery's Flat Stanley got in on the action!

Later that day Sierra got a little artistic.

And we made some delicious homemade ice cream. Luckily, Nana & Grandpa had sent us new ice cream bowls in our Easter Package!

One Last Ski Trip

We ended the ski season with a bang up in Vermont! Cory got invited by a friend at work to a private ski resort at Haystack Mountain, near Mount Snow in Vermont. It is a newly reopened ski resort so they are still in the building phase, but the skiing was awesome! The conditions were great. There was a nice layer of fresh powder for us that they were constantly grooming. And the best part, because it's a private club, there aren't a whole lot of people. There were no lift lines and most of the time we were skiing down the mountain by ourselves!
Here are the girls getting ready for their ski lessons. They had full day lessons on Saturday and a half day on Sunday. They did great and had a blast (as did Cory & I skiing by ourselves for a while)! Sierra was on the bunny hill working on stopping and turning. And Avery was all over the mountain. She even skied down the hardest black diamond run. She and her instructor wound up on it by mistake but she did awesome on it!

Avery was by herself for her lesson on Sunday. Here she is with her instructor all by themselves!

 Avery again all by herself.

Here is Cory getting in a good run

Sierra purposely trying to ski backwards. What a show-off!

I think we'll stick with going forward for a while

On the Bunny Hill, where Sierra was, there wasn't a magic carpet to get up the hill, so they got to ride up on a snowmobile every time. She loved it!!

We even got to take a ride in the grooming machine. It took us all the way up to the summit where we had a nice lunch. Then, Sierra and I rode it back down while Cory & Avery skied all the way down!
