Fall is Here!

Even though, it's still pretty warm here, it is officially Fall and we are very excited! We love Fall, especially Halloween time!  So we started off last weekend with Apple Picking.  We picked a huge bag full and now we are ready to make some apple crisp, apple pie, applesauce, etc., etc.

At soccer, on Saturday, Avery got a chance to play goalie.  She was so excited and she did great!

Cory and the girls have been ganging up on me for a couple weeks to put up Halloween decorations.  I finally gave in last weekend! It was so much fun getting everything out.  The girls even found their costumes from last year and wore them for a part of the festivities!

Go Steelers!

Avery recently informed us that two of her favorite nights of the year are the night we put up our Christmas tree and Super Bowl Sunday.  The reason being that those two nights we always have appetizers (or dip-dips, as Nana calls them) for dinner and we get to eat in the living room.  So we decided we would try to do that a little more often.  On Sunday, the Steelers game was on at 4:00 so it seemed like the perfect opportunity!  So we all put on our Steelers shirts, munched on some mini hot dogs and shrimp cocktail and cheered for the Steelers!  And wouldn't you know, they won!  I guess this means we have to do this every week :)

Camping in the Yard

Last Friday night was our annual night of camping out in the backyard.  In the past, it's always just been Cory and the girls, but, lucky for me, this year we bought a four person tent so I could join the fun!  The new tent is very roomy and it was a beautiful night!  The girls even made up their own ghost stories!  It was a little nerve wracking taking Sierra inside to the bathroom at midnight, who knows what kind of creatures were watching us! But we made it back to the tent okay and we all had a fun night!

Another Installment of "Life in Spencer"

On Friday, we discovered another reason to love living in the country.  Cory was in the middle of cutting the grass when it was time to go to the bus stop to pick up Avery.  So he decided to play "Chauffeur" on his tractor and gave Sierra a ride.  And Avery was very surprised when she got off the bus!  Thankfully, she isn't to the point of being embarassed by her parents...yet.  I do have to admit that all of the other kids were very jealous!

The First Day of Soccer

Last Saturday was the first day of the new soccer season.  Avery and Sierra both moved up to the next division.  Avery is in the U8 Division, where they play games of 4 on 4 with a goalie and a referee! She is very excited to try playing goalie but she is still a little timid.  They are also supposed to start learning postitions now so hopefully as the season progresses she will have a position instead of all of the kids swarming the ball!  And Sierra moved up to the U6 Division, where they play 3 on 3.  This is her first time playing in a game as opposed to just practicing.  She did awesome her first week and even scored her first goal!

Avery also had a birthday party for her friend, Sydney, from her class over the weeekend.  For the party, they had a company called Games2U come to her house and they played laser tag and got to go in this Hamster Ball.  Avery had so much fun and we thought it was pretty cool so I wanted to share the pictures.

Sierra's First Day of School

Yesterday was Sierra's first day of school and it was another rainy day.  She was so excited to get back to school!!  There were some kids back again from last year and some new ones too.  She even got a gold sticker for making a new friend! And luckily, the rain let up at the end of the morning so they could play outside, which is her favorite part of the day! She had such a great day!!

The Spencer Fair 2012

Since Avery's first day of school was rainy, I decided to take some outside pictures on day two.

Last weekend was one we look forward to all year long...The Spencer Fair!!!  As usual, it was so much fun!  This year, we planned it out so we could see some of the shows they have.  We saw the Elephant and Tiger Show, which was pretty cool.  And we saw an Illusionist and Escape Artist Show, which we all thought was really cool!  And on our way out at the end of the night we saw a little of the hyopnotist show which was hilarious.  In between, we did all of our favorites: face painting, games, rides, and lots of yummy fair food.  We had such a great time!
